Revis Continues to Hold Out, Could Miss Season Opener 17

CORTLAND, N.Y. (AP) -- It appears Darrelle Revis won't be joining his teammates anytime soon.
The New York Jets rejected the latest offer proposed by the All-Pro cornerback's agents, and owner Woody Johnson is not optimistic a deal can get done before the regular season.
"The answer's no," Johnson said Monday, a few hours after agent Neil Schwartz told The Associated Press he was awaiting a response from the Jets.

TYSONS CORNER, Va. (AP) -- Defending national champion Alabama is No. 1 atop the USA Today preseason coaches' poll.
Boise State will begin the season ranked No. 5. The Broncos, like Alabama, finished last season 14-0. They beat TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.
The Crimson Tide got 55 of 59 possible first place votes. The other four went to Ohio State, which is No. 2 in the newspaper's ranking.

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) -- Brett Favre's spectacular stint with the Minnesota Vikings appears to be over.
Favre has informed the Vikings he will not return to Minnesota for a second season, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Tuesday.
