SportsKids of the Month: July 2015
In each issue of Sports Illustrated Kids, we feature three kids who excel in sports, does well in school, and gives back to the community. These young athletes do it all — on and off the field! Meet this month’s SportsKids of the Month!
Cuyler Baxter, 9
Greensboro, N.C.
Baseball
During the second game of the USSSA Spring Break Bash tournament in March, Cuyler blasted a left-handed home run and then hit a right-handed in his second at bat. He also recorded six RBIs and helped Team Majestic Greensboro finish as runners-up in the 9U division.
Cameron Morgan, 11
Pennsville, N.J.
Wrestling
This year Cameron won seven tournament finals, including the USAW NJ State title, MAWA Eastern National championship, and the ACWA NJ final, where he was voted the Most Outstanding Wrestler. The fifth grader finished the season with an overall record of 58-11.
Sofia Sasan, 9
Harvest, Ala.
Basketball and Soccer
Sofia won back-to-back APRA State Basketball Tournament titles (2014 and '15), averaging 11 points and three steals per game as a guard for the Monrovia Crushers All-Star team. In April, she had 24 total saves as a goalie for the NAU Monrovia Blast Club in the U11 division of the Open Cup Tournament.
