SportsKids of the Month: May 2015

In each issue of Sports Illustrated Kids, we feature three kids who excel in sports, does well in school, and gives back to the community. These young athletes do it all — on and off the field! Meet this month’s SportsKids of the Month!


Declan Maida, 12
Minneapolis, MN
Ice Hockey

Declan scored 38 regular-season goals in the 11-U division of the Minneapolis Park and Rec Board League this year. He led his Linden Hills White team to the semifinals in postseason play, where he netted eight goals.

Jared Frey, 12
Fort Wayne, IN
Basketball

In February, Jared scored 50 points for the St. Elizabeth Pioneers in the Catholic Youth Organization fifth-grade tournament championship. The Pioneers won the title game 72-71.






Olivia Meader Yetter, 14
Lynwood, WA
Cross Country

Olivia won the 1.5-mile race (9:12) at the WIAA Cascade Conference Middle School Final for the second year in a row. She finished 36 seconds ahead of the second-place runner and ended her career at Northshore Christian Academy undefeated.
