SportsKids of the Month: November 2015
In each issue of Sports Illustrated Kids, we feature three kids who excel in sports, does well in school, and gives back to the community. These young athletes do it all — on and off the field! Meet this month’s SportsKids of the Month!
Nathan Mackie, 11
Prince George, BC
Hockey
Nathan scored 76 goals and had 93 assists for two Prince George teams, the Atomic Yellow Jackets and Pirates, during the 2014-15 season. The center also led the Pirates to a gold medal in the Vancouver Challenge Cup.
Weston Smith, 12
Davidson, NC
Baseball
During five games at the 2015 Youth Baseball Nationals, Weston batted .647, hitting four doubles and seven singles for the Carolina Bandits. He also had 13 RBIs. At the end of the week, the seventh-grader went 1-for-2 in the Nationals 12U All-Star Game.
Samantha Withers, 14
Lafayette, LA
Track & Field
Samantha, an eighth-grader on her varsity track team, was named Most Outstanding Performer at the Class B LHSAA state track meet in May. Her race wins included the 800m, 1600m, 3200m, and the 4×400 relay.
