SportsKids of the Month: September 2015

In each issue of Sports Illustrated Kids, we feature three kids who excel in sports, does well in school, and gives back to the community. These young athletes do it all — on and off the field! Meet this month’s SportsKids of the Month!


Landon Penney, 10
Manhattan Beach, CA
Baseball

In June, Landon hit the game-winning home run to win his third-straight Manhattan Beach Little League championship. As the league's youngest player, he was 7--1 and batted .330.

Sammy Koenig, 11
Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ
Wrestling

Last season, the fifth grader was undefeated in the u-10 division of the Ken Garbadian Novice Wrestling Tournament. He pinned his final opponent in a career-best 28 seconds to win gold.






Greta Candreva, 13
Katonah, NY
Fencing

Greta won the Y--12 women's épée national title at the 2015 USA Fencing National Championships & July Challenge. She also defeated the No. 1 ranked u-20 women's épéeist in Great Britain to earn bronze in the junior women's division.
