Football Gear Goes High Fashion
Super Bowl XLVIII a little more than two weeks away, and people all across host city New York are getting pumped up — and that includes those in the fashion industry. The retailer Bloomingale's has teamed up with the Council of Fashion Designers of America on a charity auction featuring football helmets created by some of the world's top fashion designers.
There are 48 helmets up for auction, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to the National Football League Foundation. The charity is a non-profit dedicated to improving youth football and the health and safety of sports.The auction began yesterday and runs through February 4.
The helmets aren't cheap — some have already climbed to more than $1000. But just because they're pricey doesn't mean we can't look them over. Here's a selection of some of our favorites:
