LA Clippers Go Back in Blue This Season
Can't get enough new basketballjerseys? Good — here's another one.
At the LA Clippers media day yesterday, the team unveiled its new adidas "Back in Blue" pride uniform that the team will wear for Sunday home games during the 2013-14. Why blue, you might ask. The color has been a part of the Clippers organization since it was called the Buffalo Braves in the 1970s. The last time the team wore the color was 1985 when it played in San Diego.
So the new jersey becomes a celebration of the team's heritage. But there are also some new, touches, too, most noticeably, the sleeves. The Clippers will join the Suns and a few other teams to wear sleeved jerseys this season. On the shorts, there are three nautical flags that correspond to the letters L, A, C for LA Clippers. And overall the threads are 23 percent lighter than standard NBA uniforms.
The Clippers will wear the Back in Blue jersey for the first time during its preseason game with the Denver Nuggets on October 14. (There could be a lot of light blue on the court!)
