Five Reasons Why Golden State Will Take the Golden Trophy
The NBA Finals are here. Game 1 is tonight, and the series is perfectly set up between two hungry teams - the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors. As a Bay Area native, here are my reasons why the Warriors are well poised to win:
1. The Golden State Warriors play like a team
The Dubs are very versatile. Everybody on the court does their part in defending and shooting. They pass the ball, and everybody makes shots and steals. “We know each other very well, we know what to expect when we get on the floor, and you rely on that chemistry,” said Stephen Curry.
2. The Warriors have a better bench
With players like Shaun Livingston, David Lee, and Andre Iguodala, the Warriors bench is skilled and highly adaptable. Compare this to Cavs point guard Matthew Dellavedova, shooting guard J.R. Smith, and forward James Jones. They’re good, but not Warriors good.
3. Steph Curry, the 2015 MVP, has stepped up this postseason
The Warriors have the current MVP of the NBA, Stephen Curry. He’s 44 percent from the three-point line this season, and in the playoffs he’s posting 29.2 points per game compared to 23.8 in the regular season. He still manages to perform well, even after the head contusion scare in Game 4 last week!
4. Golden State has the best defense in the league
The Warriors proudly boast Draymond Green, who recently finished second in Defensive Player of the Year, and Andre Iguodala, who undoubtedly changes the game every time he steps on the court. The Dubs also have 7’ tall Andrew Bogut, who plays a large part in blocking shots.
5. Home court advantage and the best fans
The Warriors have lost only three games at home all season. After the first playoff game at Oracle Arena, Pelicans coach Monty Williams said, "They have some of the best fans in the league... I'm not so sure the decibel level is legal!”
So there you have it. My prediction: Warriors win in 6 games!
