Ranking the Best Women's World Cup Kits

The FIFA Women's World Cup is in the knockout stage. And while we don't know the ultimate champion on the field, yet, we can pick a different kind of winner.

As you watch the games perhaps you have noticed that this year the soccer kits have been an incredible addition to the amazing soccer tournament hosted in Australia and New Zealand. The effort put into the creation of these soccer jerseys reflects how diverse the 32 countries are that are represented this year. From the texture to the designs, these jerseys are clearly some of the best kits of all time!

Since there are so many kits to choose from (especially if you consider that each team has a home and an away kit), I have decided to narrow it down to my top three favorite designs.

At number three on my list of 2023 Womens World Cup kits is a draw between two away kits both designed by Adidas. The away jersey for Germany accents the vast green forestlands of the German countryside and on the shoulders of this kit is the signature three stripes that all Adidas kits have. These golden stripes provide a bright contrast to the sea of teal, black, and green on this jersey.

Another away kit that caught my eye this year is the Colombian kit. Did you know that this kit design was influenced by the famous Caño Cristales River in Colombia? The river is also called the river of five colors, or some know this river as the "liquid rainbow." The beautiful galaxy of colors in this design is quite unique. The creative and abstract designs of these away jerseys are why both Colombia and Germany tie for third.

Coming in at second place on my list is the United States kit. The home design by Nike looks like a white canvas covered in splattered blue shades of paint. The four gold stars represent the total number of World Cup championships the US team has won. The gold color represents success, and the speckled look reflects the energy of this year's United States Women’s National team. The away jersey has dark pigmented shades of blue with stripes that help give this kit dimension, even with a solid blue color scheme. It’s also symbolic of the stripes in the United States flag. The home and away jerseys are both great creations, which is why they earned the number two spot on my favorites list.

Lastly, earning the winning spot on my favorites list for the 2023 Women’s World Cup kits is Portugal's. When the Portuguese 2023 Women's World Cup away jersey was crafted by Nike, the creators were inspired to turn the traditional flag into a work of art. The home jersey is a traditional color pop with a subtle hint of green around the collar and under the arms. Although basic, the bold red color appears strong and confident which are both important qualities for a winning team to have. The away kit features a confetti-sprinkled look that reminds me of a party and looks like something that would be perfect to wear to a victory parade! This is why I chose this kit to be the number one jersey on my list!
