Meet the Mascots of the 2016 Rio Olympics (then give them a name)!

Brazil hosted the 2014 World Cup this summer, but the country's not done with major international sporting events. The 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games will be held in Rio, and earlier this week the Rio 2016 committee unveiled the mascots for the Summer Games and Paralympics.

That yellow cat-like creature is the Olympic mascot, while that tree-bug hybrid is the Paralympic Games mascot. According to the Rio 2016 website, the Olympic mascot is a "mixture of all the Brazilian animals." It "was born out of the explosion of joy that happened when they announced that Rio would host" the Games. Interesting…. What about the Paralympic mascot? It's a "magical creature, a fusion of all the plants in the Brazilian rainforest." It, too, was born out of an explosion — of happiness, this time — when it was announced the Paralympic Games would head to Brazil.

Here's a quick video primer on who these mascots are:
(It's a cartoon, by the way, not some weird live-action thing like in this preview image.)

The one thing neither of these mascots have is a name. That's where you come in. You can help choose what they're called. The options are: Oba and Eba, Tiba Tuque and Esquindim, and Vinicius and Tom. Personally, I'm Team Tiba Tuque and Team Esquindim just because of I like how they sound. But you can cast your vote for their names on the Rio 2016 website.
