Singapore 2010 Youth Olympic Games

Kaitlyn Jones pushed past Kristina Kochetkova of Russia in the final lap to swim to victory in the Youth Women's 200m Individual Medley event. Jones’ gold was the first women's swimming gold medal at the first Youth Olympic Games.

Kevin McDowell clinched the silver medal in the men's triathlon and his teammate Kelly Whitley took bronze on Sunday in the women's event. “I am very satisfied with making the podium at my first Youth Olympic Games, especially with such a strong field. I hope to carry this energy to the World Championships,” said McDowell.

Jessie Bates is taking home the taekwondo bronze medalist in the women's -49kg category. Almost more impressive, the 16-year-old Bates eliminated the favorite So Hui Kim from Korea, in the preliminary round.

Congrats to these winners, good luck to the rest of the competitors. And SI Kids readers stay tuned for more updates!
