Fantasy Casting: "The Reign of King James"
Everyday this week, we're fantasy casting one athlete’s (not-yet-in-production) movie. (Why? Because Kurt Warner is getting a movie, that's why!)
We've already cast The Legend of Tim Tebow,Gold-Medal Summer: The Michael Phelps Story, Danica, andSid the Kid. Today we present our final fantasy casting session: The Reign of King James!
LeBron James’ story has enough drama, suspense, and achievements to make a blockbuster film. And, let’s be honest: It’s only a matter of time before it becomes one.
After getting national attention as a high-school phenom, James became an instant star in the NBA. As a Cleveland Cavalier, James was a hometown hero – always makes for a great movie setup.
Will Smith would make a great King James. He’s portrayed athletes in the past (Muhammad Ali), so the Fresh Prince should have no problem in this role.
The LeBron storyline took a twist in 2010 when James left for the Miami Heat to team up with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The big three created plenty of suspense as they lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 NBA Finals, and then went on to win two straight championships.
An all-star lineup calls for an all-star cast. Jamie Foxx could step up to D-Wade, while Chris Rock is a dead ringer for Bosh.
Only 28, James still has plenty of time to finish his story. When it’s done, he might take the place of Michael Jordan as the greatest ever.
So of course His Airness needs to make an appearance to crown the new King of the Court. And why not get legendary actor Morgan Freeman to step into those big Air Jordans? He might be a little old to dunk, but Freeman is such a good actor he could probably make it happen!
Who else would you cast in a Sidney Crosby movie? Let us know in the comments section!
