Meet the March SportsKids of the Month!
In each issue of Sports Illustrated Kids, we feature three kids who excel in sports, does well in school, and gives back to the community. These young athletes do it all — on and off the field! Meet this month’s SportsKids of the Month!
Bintu Chune, 8
Frederick, MD
Track and Field
Bintu finished fourth in the girls javelin throw turbo 17.46 meters and sixth in the 8-and-under age group for shot put 6.68 meters at the 2015 AAU Junior Olympic games. She won five gold medals for javelin and four for shot put last year.
Peyton Moritzen, 10
Lancaster, PA
Ice Hockey
Peyton led the Valley Forge Minutemen to a championship in the Ebo Memorial Tournament in November and was named the tournament MVP. The center also netted two hat tricks. Peyton scored three goals five times during the season.
James Cooper Jr., 13
Loves Park, IL
Football
James, a seventh-grader, helped the Harlem Middle School Huskies (10--0) win the Rockford conference title in 2015. The quarterback had 28 total touchdowns, no interceptions, and 1,078 passing yards.
